Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about PrimerPrep — what we offer, how it works, and how to get the most from the platform.

What is PrimerPrep?

PrimerPrep is a free, independent technical learning platform that offers originally authored multiple-choice practice questions with detailed explanations. We cover Java, SQL, Web Technology, AWS Cloud, Agile/DevOps, Generative AI, and Software Engineering. The platform is not affiliated with any employer or assessment provider.

Is PrimerPrep free to use?

Yes. All questions, explanations, quizzes, and blog content are completely free with no account registration required. We do not have paywalls, premium tiers, or hidden charges. The platform is supported through advertising.

Where do the practice questions come from?

Every published question is independently authored by our team from concept specifications and public technical documentation (official language specs, cloud provider docs, RFC standards). We never publish recalled, leaked, confidential, or otherwise unlicensed assessment material. Each question goes through technical verification before publication.

How are questions different from other practice sites?

Every question includes a thorough explanation that teaches the underlying concept — not just which answer is correct. We explain why wrong options are wrong, connect to related topics, and note common misconceptions. Questions are also graded by difficulty (easy, medium, hard) and tagged by specific topic for focused practice.

Do I need to create an account?

No. PrimerPrep works without registration. Your quiz scores and progress are stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This means your data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers. The tradeoff is that progress does not sync across devices or browsers.

How does the quiz scoring work?

Quiz scores are calculated as: (Correct Answers / Total Questions) × 100. The timer duration scales proportionally with the number of questions. Scores are stored locally in your browser and represent learning feedback — they are not predictions of real assessment outcomes.

What does the mastery level on the dashboard mean?

The mastery level is an average of your quiz scores across topics within a subject. It helps you identify areas that need more practice. We recommend aiming for 90%+ accuracy before considering a topic mastered. This metric is calculated locally and is not shared.

Will using PrimerPrep guarantee me a job or passing score?

No. PrimerPrep is a learning tool, not a prediction tool. We do not reproduce real assessment conditions, and our scores do not correlate to specific employer assessment outcomes. Our goal is to help you understand technical concepts deeply — which improves your preparation broadly — but we make no guarantees about specific outcomes.

How often is new content added?

We regularly add new questions and blog guides across all subjects. Each addition goes through our full authoring and review process (original writing, technical verification, explanation quality check) before publication. We prioritize quality over volume — a well-explained question is more valuable than ten without context.

Can I submit questions or suggest corrections?

Yes. You can submit original questions you authored or report inaccuracies by emailing support@primerprep.in. For submissions, include: the question, all options, the correct answer, a detailed explanation, your authorship confirmation, and the technical references you used. We do not accept material from confidential or third-party assessments.

What subjects and topics do you cover?

We currently cover seven subjects: Java Programming (OOP, data types, exceptions, collections), Database Management (SQL, JOINs, normalization, indexing), Web Technology (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, DOM), AWS Cloud (core services, IAM, VPC, architecture), Agile & DevOps (Scrum, CI/CD, Docker, IaC), Generative AI (Transformers, LLMs, GANs, RAG), and Software Engineering (SDLC, testing, design patterns). Each subject is broken into focused topics.

Is my data private?

Yes. PrimerPrep does not require registration, does not collect personal information during normal use, and stores all quiz progress locally in your browser. We do not operate marketing email lists. If you email us, we use that information only to respond to your request. See our full Privacy Notice for details.

How do you ensure the accuracy and quality of practice questions?

Every question, solution, and explanation on PrimerPrep is crafted by senior software engineers and verified against official language specifications (Java SE, Python docs, PostgreSQL/MySQL manual, AWS architecture whitepapers). We continuously audit explanations for technical correctness, clarity, and relevance.

Can I use PrimerPrep on mobile devices?

Yes. The platform is fully responsive and works on smartphones, tablets, and desktops. Questions, explanations, and quizzes are all optimized for smaller screens. No app download is required — just open the site in your browser.

How do I report a bug or technical issue?

Email support@primerprep.in with the page URL, a description of the issue, your browser name and version, and any error messages you see. Screenshots are helpful. We investigate all reports and aim to fix confirmed issues promptly.
